I received my private pilot certificate summer of 2009 and have logged over 140 hours since then. In January of 2010 I purchased a 1/4 share of a 1966 Piper Cherokee P28-A. She is a beauty of a plane. In summer of 2010, I flew her all the way from Fort Collins, CO to Houston, TX and back. It was an amazing trip that spanned over 2000 miles and took almost 20 hours round trip.
My other passion started in November of 2010 when I saw a triathlon suite on a biking website. I thought to myself "I wish I had the body of a triathlete." Then I realized that if I were to complete a triathlon, no matter what shape I was in, I would have to body of a triathlete. Fast forward 7 months of training and on June 4th, I completed my first Olympic triathlon in just over 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Since then, I have been looking for a way in which to combine the two activities. I decided the best way to do this was to fly to a location somewhere in the US and take a bike ride from the airport. This blog is to show cyclists and pilots alike what happens when you mix the two together. I will be trying to fly once a week to a different location and doing a bike ride from that location. I hope you will all enjoy reading about each adventure and I encourage you to chime in with suggestions for rides, airports, and places to check out. Happy flying, happy biking!
